Synopsis

After eight years of a political exile imposed by the Brazilian military dictatorship, sociologist Herbert de Souza returns to his homeland. Alongside democracy activists, he faces the arrival of AIDS and puts the devastating impact of hunger under the spotlight. Overcoming his fragile health and personal tragedy, he creates the largest social awareness campaign in Brazilian history.

First Brazilian show selected at CANNESERIES, Living On a Razor's Edge is more than a classic biopic as it very delicately and with a meticulous directing, paints the portrait of a key political figure of Brazilian history: Herbert de Souza, also known as Betinho, a communist activist hunted down by the military dictatorship during the 60’s and 70’s and forced to go into exile. You can’t miss its notable and immersive soundtrack as well as the masterful performance by its leading actor Júlio Andrade.
