Diana Rigg
Meet the receiver of the Variety Icon Award during a Masterclass given by the mythic Dame Diana Rigg. From the tricky Emma Peel from The Avengers to the fearsome Lady Olenna Tyrell from Game of Thrones, the british actress will share with CANNESERIES' public.
Diana Rigg was born in 1938 in Doncaster (UK). After spending the first years of her life in India, she returned to Britain in 1945. In parallel with her theatre studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, she began her career as a stage actress and then moved quickly to cinema and television. Known for her roles as Emma Peel in The Avengers series and James Bond Girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diana Rigg continues to perform in the theatre, notably in Medea, which has won her several awards. In 1994, Diana Rigg was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II and became Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. At 80, she is still in front of the camera, and has appeared since 2013 in the Game of Thrones series as Olena Tyrell, nicknamed the "Queen of Thorns".
