How would you describe your relationship to series? To me, series are a sort of magical hatch through which I can take refuge every day to lighten up my heavy-studying school days, my morale, to immerse myself in comforting worlds and fascinating adventures. They allow me to cause a breach in reality and escape from it. Moreover, as they last over a long period of time, series become a comforting routine. Each series brings me into its world each day a little more, for days or weeks, which sort of calms me down. Finally, I love that I am able to hear different languages, naturally used by the actors, as if I was part of their culture, immersed in their conversations. How would you describe your relationship to series? Series have influenced me and been part of my daily life since childhood, always trying to learn from them and then apply those lessons to my own life. Series were also able to gather my family forever. Thanks to them, we would always gather to spend a good time together, and that’s why I especially love them.
Your favorite show? It is hard to pick only one series, so among the ones I’ve watched the most, there are The Office, Game of Thrones, The Last Dance, Bref, The Mandalorian for the most famous ones but also Big Mouth, Spartacus, Formula 1, Trugin for the real connoisseur.
Your favorite character? I might repeat myself and cite the same sources but Jim Halpert in The Office has for a long time been my profile picture on social media. Otherwise, Jay in Big Mouth kills me from laughter in each episode but also Joey Tribbiani, Mando – there are too many!
Your favorite quote? "This is the way" Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) / "That's what she said!" Michael Scott (The Office)
Your favorite opening sequence? "I wanna be the very best ! That no one ever was !"...
Your recent obsession? I am un unconditional Star Wars fan so of course I loved the series The Mandalorian, with great, efficient and impressive directing. Now there’s going to be a series on Obi-Wan Kenobi in the samed universe, coming out in May and it’s already my favourite for 2022! Other than that, the documentary series presented during CANNESERIES season 4, Montre Jamais ça à personne about Orelsan and made by his brother Corentin, is very fascinating for its concept. These old images from the beginning of a career that is so successful today are truly inspiring. Recently, the trilogy Jeen-Yuhs on Kany West’s journey was made similarly. What’s better than the purity of passion and artists who don’t have anything to lose?
Your favorite showrunner? Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about those untold heroes behind the making of series, I just know that the creators of South Park make around an episode a week, and this short deadline helps with their spontaneity of creation of the narrative and dialogues, which I like a lot. Also, it works well with their crazy, wild and absurd universe!
Your childhood series? When I think about the show that most represents my childhood, I only have cartoons in mind with on top of the list Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball, but also the Winx, Zack & Cody, Waverly Place, Phinéas and Feb, Zeke and Luther, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!...
Your feel-good series? I think that Friends is the most feel-good series by essence, it has everything, not too serious, warm, friendly, for all generations, characters are endearing and you can identify easily with them… There is a common thread throughout the seasons but each episode can be watched on its own!
A series that brought you to tears? The end of series, after many episodes and seasons it is like a true breakup because we have spent so much time together, they are part of our life, and it’s hard to stand the separation! But otherwise, my real tears, real big tears, were for Michael Scott at the end when he…hey wait! I’m not going to tell you, go watch The Office!
How would you describe your relationship to series? Unfortunatemy I am not too patient, so I prefer to binge-watch an already finished series at once with all episodes available, which is why I don’t talk too much about series still being developed. But I also try to watch them sometimes, so I don’t get spoiled especially in these times where Twitter rules over the circulation of information, it’s hard to avoid spoilers. Finally I generally prefer comedies, American sitcoms, even if recently several French series made me laugh a lot like Narvalo by Matthieu Longatte, or La Flamme by Jonathan Cohen… There is also a strong potential in anime, Japanese cartoon series that are very diverse and numerous as of today. You’re almost certain to find one you like. You have to enjoy the style of drawings but it’s becoming more and more popular in France, so it’s nice to see people find what they like. As for me, I really enjoyed Seven Deadly Sins.
« Le meilleur moyen de réaliser l’impossible est de croire que c’est possible » (Alice in Wonderland - Tim Burton)
Your favorite show? Outlander
Your favorite character? Jaime Lannister (Game of Thrones)
Your favorite quote? "C'est pas faux" Perceval (Kaamelott)
Your favorite opening sequence? Game of Thrones
Your recent obsession? Yellowstone
Your favorite showrunner? Ronald D. Moore (Outlander)
Your childhood series? Merlin
Your feel-good series? Downton Abbey
A series that brought you to tears? Outlander (season 2 episode 13)
How would you describe your relationship to series? What I like with series is that it’s possible to follow a character’s story, meet up with them regularly, and witness their evolution over a longer period than in films. This format allows us to explore entire worlds and deeper plots. That is why I prefer to watch series in which the plot lasts over a full season or more rather than series with independent episodes. I like different genres, from fantasy to thriller or even historical series. I am almost always in the middle of watching a show. I usually watch one or two episodes a day.
Your favorite quote? "I'm not interested in being rebirthed, thank you. I'm still recovering from being birthed the first time." - BoJack Horseman (BoJack Horseman)
Your recent obsession? South Park
Your childhood series? Choufli Hal
Your feel-good series? Modern Family
A series that brought you to tears? BoJack Horseman
How would you describe your relationship to series? If it makes me laugh AND cry, I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
