Diana Rigg, who played the witty Emma Peel in The Avengers and the formidable Lady Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, will receive the Variety Icon Award in CANNESERIES.
Diana Rigg was born in 1938 in Doncaster, United-Kingdom. After spending the first years oh her life in India, she returned to Great-Britain in 1945. In parallel with her theatre studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, she began her career as a stage actress and then moved quickly to cinema and television. Known for her roles as Emma Peel in The Avengers series and James Bond Girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diana Rigg was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II and became, and has appeared since 2013 in the Game of Thrones series as Olenna Tyrell, nicknamed the "Queen of Thorns".
