This word translates one of our society's hottest topics, and a key element of the audiovisual landscape.
Between clichés, stereotypes and dicrimination, some series sometimes fall under tropisms.
At Canneseries, we would like to try and understand the dynamics at work by relaying each week a series of articles, studies and key data decoding the subject.
Behind or in front of the camera, how are stories told, and produced, as well as the gendered identities they identifiy with?
Sex Class Heroes
With the new Netflix hit Sex Education, we happily found out that Otis is more than just an elevator company. With ups and downs of his own, this rather shy yet sarcastic to the bone(r) teenage sex guru becomes our eyes and ears to the doubts and desires of a generation which is both horny and endearing as hell.
With the grooviest of transgenerational musical backdrops, the series deliver a colourful fresco of characters with sex and identity setbacks of all sorts and genres.
From minding their own business to launching a business of the mind, Otis and Maeve's sex clinic grants confidence and reassurance not only to their schoolmates but to the viewer as well.
Without complex, embrace this show soaked in the utmost British sense of humor and fashion about a topic that never goes out of style.
Ladies and the Stamp
Did you hear about the Reframe Project ? This organization provides a new reading grid to gender balance in the different work fields of the construction of a series or a film...
Wether it concerns the production, screenwriting, casting or staff of the audiovisual content in question, this new stamp appears as a good way to set the records straight (no pun intended).
Via a system of points allocated on a sale of eight criteria, each film or series can be granted the orange sceal, which will appear on Reframe and Imdb Pro websites.
